What is a concussion?

A concussion, or mild Traumatic Brain Injury, is a temporary alteration in brain function. There is no gross structural injury to the brain, that is, it cannot be seen on scans such as MRIs however there are small short-term changes at a cellular level that result in a lack of brain energy.

When your brain isn’t working as efficiently as you’re used to you might find you become more fatigued than usual, your sleep may be disturbed or maybe you are more sensitive to noisy environments or bright lights. The great news is, brains get better – but your brain requires your support by actively making changes.

This module will explore strategies to manage your symptoms and assist you in gradually returning to work.
