APM is dedicated to fostering a thriving and flourishing Māori and Pasifika allied health workforce.

We recognise the importance of providing a supportive, nurturing, and culturally enriching experience for Māori and Pasifika students as they journey through study into their careers.

We are offering four scholarships to Māori and Pasifika Occupational Therapy (Whakaora Ngangahau) and Physiotherapy (Haumanu Korikori) students who are in their final two years of their degree.  


How to apply

Applications are open to students who:

  • are in their final two years of a degree in Whakaora Ngangahau - Occupational Therapy or Haumanu Korikori - Physiotherapy
  • are of Māori or Indigenous Pasifika descent
  • are enrolled at an approved NZ training institute
  • can demonstrate a commitment to improving Māori/Pasifika health outcomes

The scholarship package includes

  • $2000.00 per award ($1,000 for each year)
  • Student placement opportunities at any APM location across Aotearoa
  • Regular access to APM Māori and Pasifika staff network during degree programme
  • Mentoring/coaching support from APM Cultural Clinical Advisor during degree programme
  • Options for paid summer internship within the organisation during degree programme (location dependent)
  • Guaranteed shortlist for employment upon successful completion of degree
  • Subsidised Ngā Pou Mana membership   
  • Connection to the Pasifika Allied Health Aotearoa New Zealand (PAHANZ) leadership group
